Option 1: Search our List of Tutor Requests.
Many students who are looking for a tutor have posted their tutoring needs on our website, and those postings are listed in our List of Tutor Requests. You can search that list for potential tutoring jobs, and then apply to those tutor request directly.
Option 2: Create and Submit Your Own Tutor Resume.
Students will be able to search the list of tutor resumes on the Find a Tutor page to find the tutor they are looking for.
Option 3: Set up Tutoring Job Alerts.
You can set up alerts for certain keywords that describe your tutoring services, and you will be alerted as soon as a student posts a tutoring request with those keywords.
When you post your tutoring resume, it will be listed on the website on the Find a Tutor page. Students will be able to search for tutors who fit their needs. If a student believes that your skills are what they are looking for, they are able to contact you through the email address you listed on your tutor resume.
Getting that first student can sometimes take longer that we want. Everyone wants to get that first student as soon as they post their tutoring resume. Those early jobs require some patience until they arrive.
Keep in mind that tutoring opportunities are generally cyclical. The first cycle will begin a week or two before classes first start, and continue a week or two after classes first start. The next cycles will be based around the test cycles for a specific class. Just before and just after a test, you will see an increase in the number of students who are looking for a tutor. The final cycle will usually happen just before final exams for classes.
NO!
There are many tutor posting websites out there that want to take a cut on every tutoring appointment that you book through the website. IWantTutoring.com wants you to keep every cent that you earn for tutoring students, and we do not take a cut of any money you make. That arrangement is strictly between you and your students.
Payment for tutoring appointments will strictly be an arrangement between you and your students. IWantTutoring.com does not engage in any part of the student/tutor payment process.
Most people today use some type of virtual payment service like Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, and you will need to figure out before any tutoring session what method works for both you and your student. You will also want to agree upon when that payment is due. Generally you want to get paid at the beginning or ending of every tutoring appointment, and you should make sure your students know that information.
Scheduling tutoring appointments will be arranged by you and your students. IWantTutoring.com does not engage in any part of the scheduling process.
Once you have scheduled an appointment with a student, it is usually a good idea to send them a meeting invite from whatever calendar service you use. If possible, you should set up the calendar appointment to send a reminder notification 24hrs before your actual appointment. If your calendar service does not allow for this automated service, then you should definitely take the time to send your own reminder emails 24hrs before your actual tutoring appointment.
Your hourly rate is a decision you will have to make for yourself. Keep in mind that you always want to charge what you are worth, and don’t undervalue your skills.
Things to consider when deciding on your rates:
1) How long you have been tutoring a subject?
2) How much is your time worth?
3) What are similar tutors charging?
4) How many other tutors can offer what you offer?
When to list your tutoring resume, you can choose at that time to pay an additional fee to have your resume listed in our Featured Tutors section on the homepage of the website.
Unlike many other websites, IWantTutoring.com does not take a cut of all the tutoring appointments you schedule. We merely ask for a single monthly posting fee.
If you are able to get just one student from posting your tutoring resume, that should more than pay for posting your information for an entire year.
For your monthly posting fee you get the following services:
1) The ability to view and apply to all tutor requests posted on IWantTutor.com’s curated Find a Job page. Tutoring jobs will be removed from the list once they have been filled, and after their posting deadlines expire. The Find a Job page will remain as fresh as possible with truly active tutoring requests.
2) The ability to set up notification alerts for specific keywords in the tutor requests.
3) The ability to post your tutor resume for students to find.
4) Our team actively reaching out to students to attract them to IWantTutoring.com to find answers to their tutoring needs.
Yes, if we receive negative feedback from students about the services offered by a student about a tutor, then IWantTutoring.com may choose to suspend or remove entirely a tutors account.
